It’s another edition of TUESDAY TOURS!
Today’s tour is a bit different, but when I went back to look through your tour requests, this was one of the most popular. Today, I’m sharing a bit about: HOW I WORK FROM HOME AND BALANCE MY TWO VERY DIFFERENT CAREERS.

Watch the little video below for the deets…BUT please know this, after I made the video, uploaded and then went back to grab relevant blog links to better explain, I realized that I really need to do an updated one. So, I’m sort of putting the cart before the horse here. You can catch my SHAY’S WAYS: 21 KEYS FOR WORKING FROM HOME {SUMMER EDITION}, but I clearly need to do a “non-summer edition” post too. Maybe I’ll try and squeeze that in this month? If you have specific questions, please put them in the comment section.

In the meantime, enjoy the little video I made yesterday 🙂 .
Thanks for watching!
In case you love my sweatshirt too, you can see it HERE. I bought it in a size 4.
Also, don’t forget to catch all of the TUESDAY TOURS below:
If you’re looking for THE FULL POST ON MY OFFICE (including sources), you can catch that HERE.
Have the BEST Tuesday! xx

Yay bonus post! My questions for a follow up WFH post would be:
How do you handle frequent distractions from very young kids when there’s not other childcare? As in, how do you quickly resume focus on work?
Do you keep to do’s for home, blogging, and travel agency work all on one list or do you have separate times and lists?
How do you handle periods of overwhelm with your 3 (including being a mom) jobs? As in, when your to do list is a mile long- how do you prioritize or catch up?
You’ve provided me so many wonderful lifestyle, faith, work, & parenting tips! Grateful to follow along with you, a mom just a few years ahead on the same journey (you’ve figured it “ALL” out already, right? 😉 )

I’m going to come back to this when I do the full post! Thank you for the questions!!

Loved the tour! I don’t understand how anyone can function without lists. I live by them! Every night I make sure my to-do list is current in my phone, and every morning that’s what I check. I would be a total airhead without my lists! I currently have 21 in my phone…one for groceries which I can add to anytime, one for vacation details, one for stuff I absolutely don’t want to lose, one with birthdays/anniversaries listed by month so I don’t forget to buy cards and/or gifts each month, etc. Seriously, I love my lists!

Yay! I love these extra tours. Home sick today so this was the perfect mid-afternoon cheer up. I think you have such a good attitude about work-life balance and I would love to hear how you deal with guilt (or not!) when work takes you away. I try to schedule my work as much as possible while my 3 are at school, but it doesn’t always match up of course. In addition, I love that you have shared how being a working mom can be a positive thing for kids! I grew up in a house with a workaholic parent (always stressed, on edge, never had time to relax) so it really helped me think differently when you pointed out it CAN be a good thing!

Hi Shay! As a fellow, work from home mom, I LOVE this post! I know you get up early for your quiet time and your exercise but about what time do you start working each morning? Do you work weekends? And do you have a hard “stop” time for work each day? Some days I feel like I just have to walk away from it because there is ALWAYS something to do for work when you own your own business! 😉
Also, I’ve been using my airpods more to talk on the phone and walk around during the day after you inspired me to get in more steps!
Mix and Match Mama says
That has varied over the years (and still does a bit each day), but I officially sit down and start working at 8:00 each morning…and I work until 5:00 (with stops to walk to school to pick up my kids). Some days, I work until 6:30 and other days, I have to wrap it up by 3:00, but my goal is 8 to 5. I try really hard not to work much over the weekend (a discipline I’ve had to work on), but I do from time to time as needed.

Thx for the video! Where did you get your necklace? Love it!
Mix and Match Mama says
A shop on Nantucket called Love Shack 😉 .

I’d love a Tuesday Tour (love the name of that) on a tour of your bathroom (meaning- makeup, skin care, shower stuff, shampoo and hair stuff, and how you organize it etc). Another Tuesday Tour is what apps you have on your phone – so a tour of your phone- and how you stay organized on that.
Email Tour- in terms of how you categorize and organize your email in box (this is a big one) folders- flags- what do you do to prioritize your inbox.
Hugs, Thanks.

I’m surprised you don’t have a double monitor setup with all you juggle. Your office looks like such a happy space!
Mix and Match Mama says
I use my macbook (behind my desk) instead. Andrew keeps telling me to use a double monitor, but I don’t want it to block my view.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tuesday Tours…i get so many great ideas…thank you for all your hard work.

Thanks, Shay! I still want to see your closet! Like how you designed it and how you organize it!

Thanks for the tour, Shay! I have a silly question. What earrings do you wear for your tragus piercing? The stud that I’m currently wearing for mine is too long. So I can’t wear air pods. 🙁
Mix and Match Mama says
What size is yours? When they originally pierce things, they make the earring longer to allow for swelling but once it heals, they should put a shorter one in. Maybe yours is too long?
Kit says
Could you link your name necklace please?
Mix and Match Mama says
Of course! It’s here: https://www.baublebar.com/collections/name-initial-jewelry
Leslie S says
Can you give details on the stairway carpeting behind you? It looks so cute!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s the best carpet ever! We’ve lived here about 10 years, and that carpet is just about the only original thing left because it’s held up so well. I don’t know/remember the details, but the print really hides a multitude of sins and foot traffic.
S says
What foundation and blush are you wearing in this video? Your skin looks flawless!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well, I filmed that on Stories, so there is a filter. Let’s not kid ourselves, filters help 🙂 . I still use the same foundation and blush as always! Hourglass’ foundation stick and Nars blush in the shade Orgasm. Thank you!!
Terry says
Loved your tour! And I also like your sweatshirt. Could you share the source please?
Mix and Match Mama says
Of course! I’ve had several ask, so I’ll link it in the post! I wear it all the time. I love it!
Erin Hernandez says
Can you share what old fashioned planner you are using? I have tried so many, and haven’t yet found one I love. Maybe I just need the notebook trick! I have notebooks that I use for program planning, meetings, etc… but I think I need a task list specific one! Please share… I am such an office supply nerd!
Mix and Match Mama says
I always, always, always use my Erin Condren Life Planner. I *think* I’m on my 11th or 12th one!
Heather Young says
Thank you so much for sharing your life here online- you are relatable for me also a work from home mom!
Debbie Lang says
I love this post and hearing how you manage your day/time!!! I would have liked to see more of your office setup and decor for the tour. I work from home and also agree lists are important as well as a set work time each day (with of course some flexibility, which is the perk from working from home..:-)
