Happy Thursday, friends!
I have a Nantucket-y post for you today 🙂 .
First, I shared NANTUCKET BEACHES and then I shared NANTUCKET RESTAURANTS and then I shared HOW TO GET TO NANTUCKET, and today, I’m breaking down NANTUCKET LUNCH SPOTS!
I promise you that a “what to do if you’re on Nantucket for one day” post is coming, but in the meantime, I thought I’d share a breakdown of places for lunch. Hopefully, this will help those of you coming this summer whether just for the afternoon or a few days.
A few things to note:
1: For these lunch spots, I made sure each one was causal enough that you don’t need to be dressed up like you might for dinner. You can walk off the ferry and into any of these restaurants in your “day clothes” (no swimwear though).
2: In my guide to NANTUCKET RESTAURANTS post, reservations are highly encouraged if not required for almost every establishment. For these lunch spots, you *can* make reservations at some of them, but they are not required. I made sure that every location I listed below is “walk up friendly”.
3: Don’t forget to check online because each of these restaurants have websites/social media that can give you a lot of other information. This is just a friendly little guide to get you started.
4: I decided to overlap some of these restaurants to make it easier for you to find what you’re looking for below. You will see some restaurants in multiple categories.
5: This is not a recap of my NANTUCKET RESTAURANTS post. I am specifically not listing every restaurant that serves lunch. I’m listing the ones that, in my opinion, make the most sense if you’re here for a short time and want to include a delicious lunch.
6: If you show up to a restaurant, let’s say Cru for example, and they don’t have any spots available, the bar is a wonderful place to head because if you can grab a seat, you can order off the full menu (obviously 21+ only). So many of these places have room at the bar for you to enjoy your meal. If you can’t get a table, head there.
7: Please keep in mind that these lunch places are not open year around. Read that again. If you’re not coming to visit mid-June through September, these restaurants could be closed (almost every one of these restaurants will be closed mid-October through May-ish). Only a few stay open “year around”, but even that doesn’t always mean every single day during the off season. Please just keep this in mind.
As a reminder…

Thank you for the guide! If you had to choose only one spot to eat where would it be for a perfect Nantucket day?

This was perfect timing! My family of five (and 2 dogs) are leaving Boston this Sunday for a 3-night Nantucket stay. We cannot wait and are excited to try some of these “new to us” restaurant recommendations! (We loooooove Lemon Press-one of the best and prettiest!)
Sarah Shaneyfelt says
So random, but does Nantucket have pizza delivery places or Doordash/Ubereats, etc? Like places that deliver in case you didn’t feel like going out?

Mix and Match Mama says
It does not have any chain restaurants (like Dominoes, etc), but there is like one or two places that will deliver a pizza if you’re within a distance from them (like within a mile sort of thing). There is no Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc.
Susie says
We used Uber Eats while there

Thank you so much for this great guide. I can’t wait to visit Nantucket again.. it’s been a few years but always our favorite vacation destination!

We are headed back east next May (end of May 2026) as our son will be graduating from Brown! We plan to spend a few days in Boston, after graduation. We live in the Bay Area, so we are excited to explore some surrounding sights a little more. It sounds like May is not the best time to visit Nantucket? Just wondering your thoughts on that. I thought we could take a day trip over, but we may be smart to plan it another time. I enjoy your blog so much! Thanks for sharing!
Mix and Match Mama says
If it’s the end of May, I think it might be a nice day trip! Will everything be fully up and operational, no. I think you guys could have a lovely day though.

We spent May 2023 and May 2024 in Nantucket and it was perfect – not terribly busy because it’s ahead of the summer rush. Everything we wanted to do/see was open and weather was sunny and cool. We live in FL so a beach wasn’t on our list. Just keep in mind that Figawi race weekend is Memorial Day weekend and that is busy – fun, though! Congrats to your soon-to-be grad – Brown is amazing!

I hope you had a yummy lunch from somewhere delish today!

Excellent recommendations – can’t go wrong with any of these! Or, the Whale is fun for a midday drink at the bar. I also like the bar at the Nantucket Hotel – it feels fancy, but not stuffy.

Will you be doing a “places to stay” in Nantucket, or where would you recommend someone visiting stay? Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
I certainly can!
