Years ago, my cousin Brooke made this a-mazing Tiramisu for a family gathering. It was a huge hit! I asked her for the recipe and the next time we were together, she gave it to me on individual note cards. I keep these cards on my desk with a collection of other family recipes…all my very favorites.
So, now that it’s patio season, I thought it was a great time to share this recipe with you. Tiramisu is a great make ahead dessert for any occasion…but especially for warm nights spent outside. I made this one 24 hours before we enjoyed it…which is great because this time of year, who wants to be in the kitchen at night making dessert when you can be outside instead?
Thank you sweet Brooke…love you so much! xoxo
Shopping List
6 egg yolks
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups Mascarpone cheese
1 3/4 cups heavy whipping craem
1 (12 oz) package of ladyfinger cookies
1/3 cup coffee flavored liqueur or brewed coffee brought to room temp
Semi-sweet chocolate chips to sprinkle on top
Before you begin, place a glass or ceramic mixing bowl in the freezer along with a pair of beaters so that they get nice and cold.
Fill a small saucepan halfway full of water and place over medium-high heat. Bring to a gentle boil and then place a glass bowl on top (to create a double boiler). Combine egg yolks and sugar in the glass bowl and whisk constantly until it reaches a boil over your double boiler. Reduce heat to low and continue to whisk another minute or two (it should start to thicken up). Remove from heat and whisk the Mascarpone cheese into the yolk mixture. Whisk until combined. Discard water in sauce pan.
Remove your mixing bowl and beaters from the freezer. Pour in your whipping cream and beat with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Just keep beating…they’ll eventually form after about 8 minutes or so. Once they form, gently fold the yolk mixture into the whipped cream with a rubber spatula. Set aside.
Line the bottom of your serving dish with ladyfingers (you’re going to make layers, so just line it with your first layer). Lightly brush the ladyfingers with either your coffee liqueur or room temp brewed coffee. Spoon 1/2 of the cream filling over the ladyfingers and repeat with another row of cookies, followed by more coffee and more filling. End with a final row of ladyfingers on top. Sprinkle chocolate chips down on top.
Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours but up to 24 hours.
The perfect patio dessert for your warmer nights. Enjoy!

Sooo excited to try this! This looks amazing! I love, love tiramisu. I loved when you posted a pic of sweet Ashby a week or so ago with ladyfingers- I figured you must be making some sort of tiramisu! I often make Southern Living's Tiramisu Toffee Trifle Pie- it is fabulous as well and uses pound cake as opposed to lady fingers. Can't wait to try this out! xoxo
