Happy happy Saturday, friends!
If you’re not on Pinterest this morning, I suggest you hop on over there. My Pins are at their FINEST right now. It truly is all of your cozy Saturday morning happiness is in one spot 🙂 .
Instead of our “normal” Saturday post today, I’m switching things up and sharing MY UPDATED HAIR ROUTINE…

…so many of you have been super, super sweet lately and inquired about if/what I’ve been doing different with my hair this year, and the truth is…I did make two big changes. I didn’t intend to make such changes but one after another, they organically happened and now, I can truly say that my hair feels healthier than it’s ever felt before.
So, for those of you who’ve been curious, this Saturday morning post is for you!
First up:

…Nutrafol 🙂 .
Yesterday, I made Nutrafol one of my Friday Faves, but honestly, it’s probably going to end up being my favorite Fave of the entire year.
This little supplement has been a game-changer for me. I started taking it about six months ago and within three weeks, I could already tell a difference. My hair is shinier, stronger, I’m shedding less (I used to shed EVERYWHERE), plus, my nails and skin are all seeing positive benefits too. In June, I had some nail damage at a nail salon and despite the trauma, my nails grew in strong and healthy in no time.
Just a reminder that right now, my blog readers can get $50 off their first three month supply of Nutrafol or $106 off a six month supply.
I take my Nutrafol (it’s four pills) with breakfast or lunch every day, and that’s it! I really didn’t have any expectations when I first started this supplement, but within weeks, I could really and truly see the results.
Next up:
So, I started taking Nutrafol in the spring, but then when we went to Turks in May, I bought and brought along with me for the first time COLLEEN ROTHSCHILD HAIR ESSENTIALS KIT…

I’ve mentioned this before, but I didn’t want to love it because I use their skincare every single day (and how ridicules would it be to love their skincare AND their haircare), but I love it. I bought the full sized bottles when I came home from Nantucket and haven’t looked back. I also purchased both the Smooth & Shine Hair Serum and the Protect & Perfect Styling Cream. Outside of occasionally using hairspray and/or dry shampoo, these are the only four products I’m using right now on my hair.
Here’s what I do: Shampoo, then condition, get out of the shower and comb through my hair and then add a bit of the Protect & Perfect Styling Cream. At this point, I either let my hair air dry or I use my hair dryer to get it dry. Whenever I’m ready to apply heat with my curling iron or spruce up “second day hair”, I add a bit of the Smooth & Shine Hair Serum. That’s it!
You can purchase the shampoo and conditioner individually or you can buy them as a “duo” (which is what I do). Right now, Colleen Rothschild is having their FRIENDS & FAMILY SALE, so you can get 50% off the second item with code BOGO50 as well!
I have tried so many shampoos and conditioners over the years (and loved a handful!), but I truly, truly feel like I’m seeing my best hair results right now.
And that’s it for this Saturday!
Short, sweet and to the point about my hair 🙂 .
One more bonus thing for your weekend. I saw this on Pinterest and thought it was too good not to share…

…that list is pretty darn epic. I feel like we should all make an effort to watch at least one of these this weekend. I’m going to start with Sweet Home Alabama 🙂 .
Happy Saturday, friends!

Are you still taking AG1? If so, do you find that has also contributed to hair/nail growth and strength?
Mix and Match Mama says
I do take it 2 or 3 times a week (the individual packs are my favorite). I would say that has made my gut health and overall energy/digestive health better.
Lauren says
Hi! Does the shampoo & conditioner have a scent to them? After dealing with post partum my hair has been thinning and hasn’t been the same. Excited to try the nutrafol.
Mix and Match Mama says
It does! The scent is…hmmm…I would describe it maybe like gardenia? It’s floral (at least in my opinion!).
Ramona says
Thank you for the hair update, I have been curious about this brand. Now I can try it. Have a great weekend!

Hey Shay, what made you switch from letting your hair do it’s naturally curly/wavy style years ago? I remember a 50 Shades of Shay I believe where you talked about no longer wanting to fight your naturally wavy style, but it seems in the past few years, you’ve gone back to actually drying and styling it. Why the change? Thanks for sharing what is working for you! I’m super interested in Nutrafol now!
Mix and Match Mama says
The older I get and the longer my hair gets, the less wavy it is. Some days, I wake up and it has it’s own little wave thing going, but for the most part, it just doesn’t do that as much.
Courtney says
Probably a silly question. But do you use the serum before styling with heat or after?
Mix and Match Mama says
Not silly! I should have specified! You can do either, but I do before (and then on second day hair, over the top!).
Andrea says
Hi. Yes, I can see you highlight your hair. Is it just bleach or a color? Thanks. It looks great.
Mix and Match Mama says
She highlights it with color (both light and dark). I guess that’s how you say it? I just sit there and let her do her thing 😉 .

Shay, I know you’ve addressed this over the years (I am a frequent reader but very shy commenter 🙂 ), but it’s a perennial issue for me. Can you (or other commenters!) give a little rundown on how you manage hair maintenance and exercise? I feel like the activity level of my workouts is dictated by how recently I’ve washed my hair, and you seem to manage both a really active lifestyle and beautiful, polished hair. My hair is curly, so hair care for me is pretty much a constant battle against frizz, but I’m sure every texture has its challenges. I’d love a refresher on how other ladies manage this balance to stay active and have presentable hair day after day!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh you’re so sweet to comment (and I wish you would more!). Here’s the deal…I really try and wash my hair every other day (no more, no less). So…like today, I had a really sweaty workout, but I washed my hair yesterday and have nothing to do today outside of staying home and working all day, so I didn’t wash it when I showered this morning. I used a bit of dry shampoo and will wash it tomorrow. Basically, my hair is long and not super easy to wash and dry daily, so I just don’t and hope for the best.
Beth says
Thank you so much for the reply and the warm welcome!

Hi Shay-
I just love reading your blog. Thanks for the update on your hair routine. I kinda want to try the Nutrafol. Does it replace a daily multivitamin? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
For me, it totally replaced my multi-vitamin!
