Happy Friday, friends!
Well, as much as I have enjoyed these last few days in McKinney, wouldn’t a weekend on Nantucket sound much better? Yes, yes it would 🙂 .
As I make my way bACK, I have my weekly round up of Friday Faves to share. Per usual, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing my favorite things.
One of my favorite things this week was all of the random fun we had here in blog world. I had NO idea how many of us needed to learn more about the SUNRISE ALARM CLOCK (I was shocked by the feedback!). I also loved BOOK CLUB this week (a 5 Star book review from me!) and I somehow managed to cover a little FALL, a little BLACK FRIDAY, and a little CHRISTMAS too all in July 🙂 .
My favorite post though was…

…Monday’s look at how we remodeled both bathrooms on Nantucket!

If you missed that, catch it HERE!
I hope you have a wonderful last weekend in July! xx

This week has had a lot of sweet moments at home. I’ve loved all of the one on one time with Kensington, I’ve enjoyed making dinner every night in my kitchen for us, I’ve loved lunch with my girlfriends and working from my office…but this sweet pup here…

…has been my favorite 🙂 . Poppy came home too!

And she hasn’t left my side.

Poppy spent the summer with Andrew’s parents and honestly, she LOVED it so much! Andrew’s parents were sad to see her go. This 13 year old spunky pup has ALWAYS had a pep in her step, but she came back even peppier. Andrew’s sweet brother and our niece drove her down from Missouri, and even though she enjoyed her time in the Show Me State, she was happy to be home.
This week, we have only had…

…the OG dogs here as Frenchie returned with Kensington and me too. These two were SO happy to be reunited. They are thick as thieves. I’m pretty positive that next summer Frenchie is going to want to vacation with Poppy too 😉 .

The younger dogs typically get all the attention here on the blog…

…but it’s been a good week for the old gals, so I wanted to share. Man, I love my dogs!
These two will stay here and be house sat while we wrap up Nantucket. I am positive they are going to enjoy the peace and quiet before the chaos that is the rest of us arrives back home.

Random but a favorite…

…you know I’m always looking for ways to get more protein in my diet, well these two guys are how I have been traveling and getting my protein. I’ve been taking a Barebells protein bar and an individual pack of my favorite protein powder with me on flights.
I’ve shared both of these many times before, but they’re certainly worth sharing again. If you love Clean Simple Eats protein like me (the chocolate peanut butter is my fave!), then pick up some individual packs if you need an easy way to take them on the go.

You ladies know how much I love rewatching the same happy, sweet movies over and over again. Well this week, I got myself into bed extra early every night and watched two that I love and yet always forget to talk about…

…27 Dresses and…

…How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days.
Why don’t I mention these two more? Both are so cute! I watched both over the four nights, and they were perfect for summertime.

If you didn’t catch my Anniversary Sale picks this week, you can HERE.
I shared several things including…

SHORTIE PJS + LONG PJS + UGGS on sale…

…and my BASIC TEE (only $16!) + BLUE JEANS + BLACK JEANS + MULES
To catch my other picks, head HERE!

You guys, it is a million degrees in McKinney, TX right now which means that not only is it too hot to grill outside, it’s too hot to turn on the oven in the kitchen.
What should one do?
Yup, even in the summer.

Every year, I share my SUMMER SLOW COOKER SUPPERS because when it’s too hot to cook (or grill!), let the slow cooker do all of the work for you. Check out all of my yummy recipes HERE!
Okay, before we wrap up, it’s time to announce…

…the winner of our $150 COLLEEN ROTHSCHILD GIFT CARD!
Congratulations BROOKE JENSEN!
I emailed you this morning, Brooke. Please email me back ASAP to claim your prize.
I hope you all have the BEST Friday! I will see you back here tomorrow from Nantucket for this week’s bonus SATURDAY BLOG POST!
See you then! xx

I just saw a post yesterday from a neuroscience perspective that said we love watching and rewatching familiar movies because it’s a pathway of safety for our brains. We know the story, we travel the familiar plot and feel secure in it. Pretty spot-on.
Mix and Match Mama says
Gosh, I love that!

I do rewatch alot of movies too! That is a great explanation of why. Sometimes when I rewatch a movie, I will also try and pick up on something new. For instance when Eat, Pray, Love first came out i was in my mid twenties and could not understand why the main character (Julia Roberts) was dealing with certain life situations. When I recently re-watched a few weeks ago, it hit so different because I had a little more life experience now versus in my mid twenties, if that makes any sense:)

We still have a month before school starts for us in Iowa, but I am seeing so many people sharing about how their summers are winding down! Enjoy the rest of yours 😊
Looking ahead to fall scents, what’s your favorite fall candle? 🎃
Mix and Match Mama says
Enjoy your month! I always get excited when we get out of school in May…but I’m always sad when we have to return this early.

I am back at school today… first day of preplanning. It’s crazy how fast summer flies by! I love those Ugg slippers! I usually get a new pair every Anniversary sale, so I need to get on it! I always forget about those movies, but those were always a favorite!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I hope your first day back is really smooth! xx

I love the dog posts! Sweet babies. 🙂 I agree with the commenter above, I want to know your favorite fall candle scents! I feel like I already know, but can you list or link some? My husband will be in Nashville for a few days and I’m trying to have him bring back a few fun things!
Mix and Match Mama says
My very favorite is Country Morning by Circle E Candle Co 🙂 .

Travel safe and have the best time wrapping up your summer on Nantucket!

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of my FAVORITES!

HOWWWWWWWWWWWW in the world is summer almost over. And WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

I am grieving with you, friend!

Do you mix the Clean Simple Eats protein with milk or water? So many want some kind of milk. I had my first Barebells protein bar yesterday. It was so good! Have you ever tried Robert Irvine’s FitCrunch? So so good – chocolate chip cookie dough is good but the peanut butter one is also very good.
Mix and Match Mama says
I have only ever used water. And I don’t think I have! Thank you for the rec!

Although I am a conformed Prime Prometics & Naked & Thriving skincare and make up devotee , I decided to try your suggestion of Collen Rothschilds products. I have to tell you their hydrating face mask is a game changer. It says use 2. 0r 3 nights a week but I now use it as the last step in my night routine and it has made a huge difference. I also love their face mask, and use their illuminated tinted eye cream . Great for eyes but even better to cover up sun/age spots. I just ordered their age serum at your suggestion.

So nice to see Poppy! 🙂 Maybe I missed it, but is there a reason she doesn’t travel to Nantucket with the rest of the group? Our dog does not travel well. He gets super stressed. So, I was wondering if she had similar issues.
Mix and Match Mama says
She is so vibrant and so energetic for 13, and I didn’t want to do anything to disrupt that. She’s done so well traveling to and from nantucket these last few years, but this year, we decided to try something different, and I’m so happy we did!

It’s going to be 100 with a heat index of 105 the next 5 days here in North Carolina! 🥵 And we move our youngest into her off campus place tomorrow 🥴 I’m always sad when summer is over. I look forward to cooler temps and yummy scents but my house is quiet again 🥺 Enjoy being bACK to finish out your summer!

Oh Shay, I love seeing your sweet dogs! They are always so precious!! I never thought I’d be a dog mama until nine years ago, when our boys talked us into getting a dog. Our boys were 7 and 11 when we got our sweet beagle, Daisy. Instantly, I became a dog mama and we became a dog family as Daisy melted our hearts. Sadly, on Wednesday morning at 3 AM, we woke to Daisy not well. Within the hour, we arrived at our pet hospital and our sweet Daisy passed. This was such a shock to us all. We are heart broken and so sad… nine years wasn’t long enough. But we are so thankful this happened when it did because we leave today for our family vacation. I am thankful God allowed us to be here so we could be with Daisy as she passed. We are so sad, but so incredibly grateful that nine years ago, God chose us to be Daisy’s family. I’m now a dog mama and we are a dog family with sad hearts here in Iowa. I would love prayers for God to comfort our sad hearts and for Him to guide us as we will eventually get another furry family member. Thank you, Shay XO
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh Angela, I am so sorry for your loss. I know sweet Daisy was family. I am just so so sorry. xx

It’s been a great and productive summer all the way around!! While I’m working remotely today, I have When Harry Met Sally on in the background. 🙂 It’s delightful. I think you may have reminded me that I like that movie, Shay!
Denise says
Shay I loved your pictures of Poppy and Frenchie. What a treat to be loved by our dogs! Have a great summer wrap up in Nantucket.
Karah Stracener says
It looks like your pups are so happy to be home and back together. Enjoy the rest of your summer on Nantucket. My husband and I are wishing we could spend our summers up there, maybe one day. I cannot believe it’s almost time for back to school. We have about 2.5 weeks before we start and I am soaking up every minute with my girls. Summertime is my favorite!!
Sarah Shaneyfelt says
I love both of those movies! My favorite scene in How to Lose a Guy is when she sings “You’re So Vain” on stage. Ever since that movie came out, I love to randomly sing that song. My two babies love it when I do hahaha! Also your bathroom remodel posts have been my favorite from this week and I even told Dustin I found a new vent fan for us when we build again because your look great! Have a great rest of the summer on Nantucket!

Always a little late to contribute to the conversation but I definitely have a Fri (actually July!) favorite. My 5th grandchild was born on the 13th and she’s the sweetest! I’ve gotten so many baby snuggles in the past week & a half & so grateful to be 5 min away from them all!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my goodness, what a blessing! Congratulations! I am so happy for YOU!
