Hey, hey FRIDAY!
You guys, guess what?
Both McKinney Boyd High School AND Lovejoy High School have bye weeks this week.
What are the odds?!
That means, this is our one football-free weekend of the season, and it couldn’t come at a better time because it’s OKTOBERFEST WEEKEND IN MCKINNEY!
Andrew and I met friends from church on our town square last night for dinner, so we got a little peek at everyone setting up for the festivities which begin today. If you are local, you should come. If you do come and you happen to see me, you should most certainly come over for a hug 🙂 .
In the meantime, if you don’t see me at Oktoberfest this weekend, you will probably see me…

…at Hobby Lobby because I just can’t quit my happy place. Between the fall and the Christmas, my heart is SO FULL every time I stop by.
Okay, as always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing this week’s FAVORITE THINGS!
Cheers to the weekend, friends!
My new favorite thing in life is…

…cheering on Ashby at her cross country meets!
This week, this girl did FANTASTIC! We were oh so proud of her.

My favorite part is that as soon as she crossed the finish line, one of the coaches from her former school in McKinney basically knocked her down to give her a hug and tell her how proud she was of her and that she needed to go back to that school because they missed her. That is some VERY CLASSY coaching right there. It meant so much to us to see the love from a former coach.
If you are one of the sweet blog readers who are reading through the Bible with me this year in our MMM BIBLE RECAP GROUP then you know that on Wednesday, we start the New Testament!
This is my third year in a row to read through the Bible with a big group here in blog world, and it is truly, truly, truly one of my favorite things to do each day. If you are not currently reading through the Bible with us, you can start now! Wednesday, October 1st would be an excellent start date as we all dive into the New Testament together. For more details on what The Bible Recap is head here! You can begin any time, but collectively, we are all moving from OT to NT this coming week.
If you learn better through audio, you also might want to download…

…this app. I personally don’t use it, but it’s my understanding that you can also get all of The Bible Recap in one spot here audibly. This could be an excellent tool for some of you.
One last thing, please, please, please don’t forget that I also have…

…HOW TO GET STARTED IN THE BIBLE should this all be new to you and you don’t know where to begin. I would love to help you dig into God’s Word. Start AT THIS POST and then please email me with ANY questions. mixandmatchmama@yahoo.com
On Wednesday night, I hosted the junior class cheer moms for a little homecoming craft project and ordered a charcuterie board from one of my favorite local companies @amazinggrazetexas on Instagram…

…how gorgeous is this?! Look at all of the details!

I was SO SO PLEASED!!

If you are local, I have used them many times for amazing charcuterie boards and as you can see, they always deliver excellent results. I just really loved this one 🙂 .
What have I been wearing this week?
Well, it all leans FALL, of course!
Let’s start with…

THIS TANK + JEANS + MULES for a “fall colors even though it’s still warm out” look.
THIS TANK is only $10 right now!
On another day, I wore…

The same JEANS and MULES with THIS SLEEVELESS SWEATER. Love!
This CROCHET TANK comes in so many other colors and is under $25 too!
And yesterday…

…I wore THIS MOCK KNIT to work and run errands with THESE JEANS and my beloved MULES.
All three of these seasonal tops come in a variety of colors and are $25 or under!

I did not wear this next outfit anywhere (yet!), but I tried it all on to make sure it fit and loved it so much that I had to snap a few pics and share…

These BOOTCUT CORDUROY PANTS come in SEVEN different colors (I especially loved the eggplant and cognac colors too!) and are like a velvety-corduroy. They seem so much more elevated than other cords I’ve owned in the past. I am always, always looking for different options for pants other than jeans, and I am SO pleased with these! I paired them with THIS TOP and THESE BOOTS.

I wanted you to see the fabric of the CORDUROY PANTS better. See? A little velvet-y. THE BOOTS come in other colors as well. Love.

And finally, in honor of Oktoberfest weekend here in McKinney…

…I am sharing easy recipes you can make this weekend should you want a little Oktoberfest in your world too.

Check out my EASY OKTOBERFEST RECIPES today!
I hope you all have a wonderful Friday! I will be back here tomorrow with our bonus Saturday post and giveaway too.
I’ll see you then. xx

Happy Friday! I was not feeling very “fall” lately and looked at one of your posts earlier this week for inspiration. At Aldi I picked up two huge pumpkins and two huge beautiful mums for $15 total! Now I get all kinds of fall happy every time I see my front steps!
Mix and Match Mama says
Aldi is a store that I’ve never visited…but I think I should. Is fall a good time?
Kim says
It’s always a good time to shop at aldi. I buy my pumpkins there too. The deals are so good. And that charcuterie board is amazing! Wow so good!
Laura says
Maybe? They are a European company so they have lots of German snacky things this time of year in their “aisle of shame” lol
Dana P says
A friend of mine was raving about their maple kettle corn the other day. 🙂 Also, I love when you post pictures of Hobby Lobby, Trader Joe’s, your grocery store, Target, etc. I really miss them and love to get a glimpse of them, especially when they’re all decked out. And finally, those corduroys are super cute on you!!
Susan Jeffries says
I added several of the tanks to my cart along with the mules. I need a few things to wear during fall when it’s still 80 degrees. Thanks for the options!
Lori Bittenbender says
What a gorgeous charcuterie board! And how generous of you to purchase that for the cheer moms! I am also a cross country mom. If they ask parents to host pasta dinners, you should volunteer. It a fun way to get to know the athletes. Thank you for encouraging your readers to read the Bible! Daniel 12:3

We hosted a swim party pasta night and had about 38 kids in our home. Such a fun night and the neighbors were gracious since we had a large school bus parked in the front of the house for several hours. I took a picture of the shoe pile at the front door; it was quite a mountain of shoes.
Amber says
I started the Bible Recap in August then I got my husband on board too so we are both reading, listening, and enjoying it! I searched your website for your recommendations and appreciate them 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I am so so happy you’re doing it too! This is my fourth year to do it (third with the blog community), and now, I can’t imagine not starting my day with it.
Sheaffer says
THAT CHARCUTERIE BOARD!!!!! WOW!!!!!!! GORGEOUS!
Abby Larson says
I do The Bible Recap through my Youversion Bible app. There is a plan where it groups each of the readings together and has the link to the YouTube video. All in one place- so helpful. And I often have the app read to me as I read along. I love it! Thanks for introducing me to The Bible Recap!!
faith says
thank you for that rec!
Dana P says
Thanks for the tip, Abby! I have been wanting to try it and I didn’t know it was available through Youversion.
Laci says
That charcuterie board is FANTASTIC!!!!

A bye weekend for both schools; what are th odds?! I was excited and thought you were going to say that you were headed to Nantucket! But I have a feeling Nantucket may come later in the month!
Mix and Match Mama says
What are the odds, right?! I wish I were heading to Nantucket today 🙂 .
Nicole says
Love those pants!! What size did you get? Thanks!! I love that you’ll have a fun dinner on a Thursday! What did you order for food and drink? 🥰
Mix and Match Mama says
The black pants, I bought in a size 0. They are SO good! I had a burger with avocado and club soda with lime. We ate at Harvest on the square in McKinney. I didn’t eat the bun, but I did have a few fries.
AM says
I am not meaning this to come across as critical, I’m genuinely curious, but how do you find the time and places to wear all of your clothes? I love all of your new sweaters, boots and pants but unless you’re changing your clothes several times a day, then I don’t know how you can fit them all into the rotation. Maybe I’m just too boring to wear the same things all the time.
Mix and Match Mama says
I appreciate this question! Today, I only showed three things, and that’s what I wore on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Like I said, I haven’t worn the black outfit yet. On Monday, I wore a tank top and joggers (certainly a repeat outfit). I certainly have to purchase more and wear a wider variety as it is a part of my role as an influencer, but unless you count going from my workout clothes after I shower to my day clothes, I don’t change during the day.
Julie says
I love me a charcuterie board. That looked amazing. Those are often my lunches too! Pretty sure you and Andrew gave me those ideas years ago, and then Covid just got me even more excited about them.
Is it homecoming this weekend?
Mix and Match Mama says
No, we still have two weeks until homecoming…they’re on the same week too!
Erika Slaughter says
Happy Friday! What are the ODDS they both have a bye tonight?!
Nicole says
Could you reshare the black top? I love that outfit!! 😍
Mix and Match Mama says
I totally spaced and forgot to link it. It’s here and available in other colors: https://shopstyle.it/l/cu2yC
Leslie says
Hi there! Can you link the top you’re wearing with the black pants? It looks classy and comfy.
Mix and Match Mama says
Well duh, I forgot to do that! It’s here and in other colors: https://shopstyle.it/l/cu2yC

Shay,
Great blogging week and as a daily reader since 2013, I am so impressed at how you have remained authentic, relevant, and inspiring the past twelve years when many blogs I used to follow have changed greatly and just seem cold.
As someone contemplating starting a blog, yet fears the exposure, loss of privacy, and harsh judgment, could you do a blog post on how you handle/balance the blog world/social media?
Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well goodness, thank you so much for such an encouraging and loving comment. I’ve (thankfully) done this job for so long that it has truly become second nature to me. I would love to encourage you too. If you ever have any specific questions, please email me. I’d be happy to pass on any insights that I have on the topic. My best tip is to always blog about something you are truly passionate about. If you do that, then not only will you always be authentic, but you’ll always be happy sitting down to write. xx
Cheryl S says
So well said Faith, I second this entire sentiment!
Shay I’ve been a reader since 2014 I believe, and I look forward to reading today as much as I did back then. You are a light! ❤️
Mix and Match Mama says
I am so so blessed by YOU. Thank you, Cheryl. xx
Nikki says
I love how into fall you are! It seems like most people in the warm weather states are READY for fall early. Here in Massachusetts I’m holding onto all the last bits of summer! LOL

I’m doing the Bible recap this year, also. It’s been so helpful!
Laura Berry says
Where did you get the high neck top you are wearing with your black corduroy pants? Love that outfit!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s right here: https://shopstyle.it/l/cu2yC
Debra says
Second time Bible Recap reader here. Such a wonderful guide to understanding God’s word and applying it to our lives. Speaking of wonderful guides, have you read Practicing the Way by John Mark Comer? It is truly life changing! I’m combining the study with the Lectio 365 prayer app. It’s so helpful for anyone that is looking to strengthen their prayer life. I love those corduroy pants, especially in black. I need to get a pair stat!
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t read that one. Thank you so much for suggesting it!!
Lori Klein says
I love those cords, they look great and look so soft and well-made!
I just got the book you discussed last week, 100 Ways to Live a Luxurious Life on a Budget. Excited to start reading it this weekend! Thanks for recommending!
Holly Sheridan says
I’m so thankful for you introducing me to the Bible Recap! I always struggled to read and understand the Bible, and I’m now on my 3rd year doing it! I also can’t imagine starting my morning any other way, and I’ve also introduced it to my mom, my daughter, and a friend. Thank you Shay!
Sara Duncan says
Hi! I love your charcuterie board and would love to know what craft you had for the cheer moms, as I am a varsity cheer mom and would love an idea for hosting something like this! Such a great idea!
Mix and Match Mama says
I hosted but another mom brought the craft. It’s for homecoming week. We decorate a pom that the girls use when cheering. They use one “normal” pom and then a second mom has notes and messages glued/stapled inside as well as other trinkets and hoco ribbons.
Heather S says
We’re at a hockey tourney in Lake Placid this weekend and hitting up the local Oktoberfest after our games this evening! All the locals said it’s huge and one of the best days to be in the ADK all year! Super pumped to go!
Mix and Match Mama says
That is SO fun!!!
